The conversation on who should be the next opponent for UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has primarily centered on wrestling superstar Brock Lesnar and Cormier’s biggest rival, Jon Jones.
But the man Cormier defeated on Saturday night at UFC 226 to claim the heavyweight belt wants to make sure his hat is in the ring, as well.
Stipe Miocic, who lost to Cormier via first-round knockout in Las Vegas, tweeted congratulations to the new titleholder on Monday afternoon ... and indicated his interest in a rematch.
Congrats to DC. Didn’t get the chance to say it in the cage, but lets dance again and get a rematch before you call it a career.

Thx to my coaches and team.
Being the greatest heavyweight in UFC history is a career-long journey and doesnt end here. I’m more motivated than ever!
Cormier, for his part, didn’t specifically respond to the rematch request. But he reciprocated the respect, and wished Miocic and his family, who are expecting the birth of a child this week, the best of luck.
My brother it was an honor to share the cage with you. I know you’ll be back better than ever champ. Head up and good luck with baby. #father #husband #hero #champ #cle https://t.co/S6WIN9uNfX

Miocic’s loss to Cormier ended a six-fight winning streak, during which he became the only competitor in UFC history to successfully defend the heavyweight title on three consecutive occasions.
