ONE Championship is getting into the boxing business.

The top Asian MMA promotion will be headlining its next event in Thailand with a boxing match, featuring Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world, per an announcement Monday. This year, ONE has also featured kickboxing for the first time in cards with both that and mixed martial arts.

ONE: Kingdom of Heroes takes place Oct. 6 in Bangkok and will feature MMA fights as well as the boxing headliner. ONE is partnering with Nakornloung Promotion to co-promote the Sor Rungvisai bout.

“I am happy and honored to take part in this historical ONE Championship’s event,” said Sor Rungvisai, a Thailand native, at a press conference. “I was at ONE Championship’s event in Bangkok earlier this year, and it blew my mind with its world class production, entertainment, and fights. I would also like to thank everyone who made this possible. With ONE Championship opening its doors for athletes like me to showcase our talent on the global stage, it means a lot. This is a new challenge, and I love challenges. I am looking forward to defend my WBC World title belt in ONE Championship.”

Sor Rungvisai, 31, is a two-time WBC super flyweight champion and holds the Ring super flyweight title as well. He is best known for his wins over Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez in 2017 when Gonzalez was considered one of the best boxers in the world. An opponent for Sor Rungvisai (45-4-1) has not yet been named.

“It is my honor and my pleasure to see some of the greatest martial artists on the planet compete in ONE Championship,” ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong said. “The thing that makes ONE Championship different from any other organization in the world, is that we want to build and unleash martial arts superheroes to ignite the world with inspiration, hope, dreams, strength, and courage.”

Also on the ONE card in Bangkok will be Thai MMA athletes Shannon Wiratchai and Rika Ishige.
