UFC 226 bonuses: Daniel Cormier’s title win earns Performance of the Night award

When you become just the second fighter in UFC history to hold two weight-class championships at the same time, and do so via knockout while going up in weight, you’ve probably earned yourself a Performance of the Night bonus.

Such was the case on Saturday night. Daniel Cormier’s first-round knockout of Stipe Miocic added the UFC heavyweight title to a trophy case which also includes the UFC light heavyweight belt.

And it earned him an extra $50,000 as one of UFC 226’s postfight bonus winners.

Cormier was one of four fighters to claim Performance of the Night, with Khalil Rountree Jr., Anthony Pettis, and Paulo Costa also picking up $50K.

Light heavyweight Rountree Jr. earned his for a first-round knockout of kickboxing star Gokhan Saki; Pettis, the former UFC and WEC lightweight champ, got a bonus for his submission of Michael Chiesa; and Costa got his for a knockout of Uriah Hall in a middleweight fight.

There was no Fight of the Night awarded on the evening.

The UFC also announced a sellout crowd of 17,464 at T-Mobile Arena for a paid gate of $5,677,238.21.
