The return of women’s MMA pioneer Kaitlin Young is one of several fights announced recently by the Japanese RIZIN promotion for their Aug. 12 event.

Young, who last fought in 2014 and has spent time working as Invicta FC’s matchmaker in the interim, will meet Reina Miura in a 143-pound bout at RIZIN 12 in Nagoya, Japan.

Young (7-9-1), a Minnesota native, had recently tried out for The Ultimate Fighter 28. She looks to snap a four-fight losing streak in the bout with Miura.

Miura, a 21-year-old Tokyo native, has a 9-1 record with six finishes. She brings a two-fight win streak into the bout.

The main event for the RIZIN 12 card is a lightweight matchup between Yusuke Yachi and Bruno Carvalho. Yachi, of Tokyo, boasts a 20-6 record and is on a six-fight win streak, a run which includes wins over Diego Nunes, Takanori Gomi, and Daron Cruickshank.

Carvalho (10-5), of Curitiba, Brazil, makes his RIZIN debut against Yachi. He’s won two of his past three fights, but hasn’t competed since Oct. 2016.

Also announced was a featherweight bout between Hatsu Hioki (29-11-2) and Mikuru Asakura (4-2). Hioki, a UFC and PRIDE vet, takes a two-fight losing streak into his RIZIN debut; while Asakura has won three of his past four.
