Alexander Shlemenko’s most recent return to Russia ended poorly.

In the main event of M-1 Challenge 93 in Chelyabinsk on Friday, the former Bellator middleweight champion was beaten in under three minutes by Brazilian knockout specialist Bruno Silva.

This was Silva’s debut for M-1, and the 28-year-old couldn’t have made a better first impression. Midway through the opening round, he cornered Shlemenko and landed a jumping knee that hurt Shlemenko. He followed with concussive body shots, another knee, and then a torrent of punches to pick up the TKO victory at the 2:54 mark of round one.

Shlemenko (56-11-1) loses for a second straight time following a unanimous decision loss to Gegard Mousasi at Bellator 185 last October. This is his first defeat under the M-1 banner in seven appearances for the promotion.
