Bad luck has hit Bellator 200.
The landmark show lost its main event on Monday, as Mirko Filipovic has been forced to withdraw from Friday’s main event at The SSE Arena in England with an undisclosed injury. “Cro Cop” was scheduled to make his Bellator debut in a rematch against UFC 137 opponent Roy Nelson, with the winner earning an alternate spot in the promotion’s World Heavyweight Grand Prix.
MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani confirmed the news, following an initial report from the The Telegraph.
A middleweight championship bout between Rafael Carvalho and challenger Gegard Mousasi is expected to serve as the new main event.
Since leaving the UFC in 2011 following a TKO loss to Nelson, Filipovic (36-11-2, 1 NC) has fought primarily in Japan with stops in Poland and Russia. He was booked to headline Bellator 200 on the strength of eight consecutive wins.
