UFC Chile results: Tatiana Suarez finishes Alexa Grasso in opening round

Even in what might be its dying days, The Ultimate Fighter is still producing winners.

We all got a reminder of that fact on Saturday night, when TUF 23 victor Tatiana Suarez put on a show at UFC Chile.

Suarez, a two-time gold medalist for Team USA at the world wrestling championships, showed off her ground skills as she made quick work of Alexa Grasso. The time of the finish via rear-naked choke was 2:45 of the opening round.

“I don’t know, it went by so fast — I had a long long camp,” the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. native said. “I had a 10-week camp, it was so quick, and you’re happy because you’ve worked so hard.”

Suarez showed off her skills early with a sweet throw into a side headlock. It didn’t take long from there to transition into position for the rear-naked choke. Suarez got the choke in deep, shifted to make it deeper, and finally Grasso, who had tried to fend the sub attempt off with punches, had no choice but to surrender.

“I knew I had it in pretty deeply,” Suarez said. “All she could do was punch me in the face but that was it.”

Suarez improved to 6-0 with her fourth career finish win. Grasso (10-2) has lost two of her past three.
