Irene Aldana asked for an specific opponent and got her wish.
The Mexican fighter has been booked to fight former UFC women’s bantamweight title challenger Bethe Correia at UFC 227 on Aug. 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. The news was announced by the promotion on Friday.
Aldana last fought in January where she picked up a unanimous decision win over Talita Bernardo. The victory marked Aldana’s first victory inside the Octagon. The 30-year-old fighter who trains out of Lobo Gym in Mexico is 1-2 in her UFC run and 8-4 in her overall professional MMA career.
By the time Correia steps in the Octagon, it will be a little over a year since she was last seen in action. Correia hasn’t fought since her head-kick knockout loss to former champ Holly Holm in the main event of UFC Singapore. The Brazilian fighter is 34 years old and sports a pro MMA record record of 10-3-1.
Correia is currently ranked No. 10 in the division, while Aldana sits just one spot behind at No. 11.
