With Ray Borg out, Brandon Moreno gets Alexandre Pantoja at UFC Chile

Brandon Moreno will remain on the UFC Chile card.

The flyweight fighter will be taking on Alexandre Pantoja in the promotion’s first trip to Chile, which is set to go down on May 19 at the at the Movistar Arena in Santiago. The news was first reported by Combate and was later announced by the UFC.

Moreno was originally expected to face former title challenger Ray Borg on the UFC Chile event, but Borg withdrew from the bout due to personal reasons regarding his son’s health. That was the third time the Borg-Moreno fight had been canceled as the two young contenders were also scheduled to fight earlier this year at UFC Austin and UFC 223.

Both Moreno and Pantoja have already fought each other. Pantoja eliminated Moreno from The Ultimate Fighter 26 in the opening bout of the flyweight tournament back in 2016. Since TUF fights are considered exhibition bouts, this will technically be the first time the two face each other in professional MMA.

Moreno is currently ranked seventh in the division and he’s 14–4 in his pro MMA career. Meanwhile, Pantoja is 18–3 as a pro fighter and sits at No. 12 in rankings.
