The moment Conor McGregor made a surprise appearance at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday, it was clear he would be the center of attention and for better or for worse he made sure to give everyone watching something to talk about.
McGregor and his crew were involved in a chaotic scene backstage that saw objects being thrown at buses and at least one fighter — UFC lightweight Michael Chiesa — injured. The event happened just two days before UFC 223, and while reports are still coming in as to McGregor’s whereabouts and how the event will be affected, fighters and personalities in the MMA community took to social media to give their thoughts on the latest headline-grabbing move from “The Notorious.”
@TheNotoriousMMA is a piece of shit.

Take in custody....
Escort to arena on Saturday night to make him fight Khabib.....
That’s true punishment!
I keep hearing @TeamKhabib whole team was on this bus. I know for a fact that it was only Khabib and Ali on this bus with the rest of the red corner fighters. It would have been much , much worse if his whole team was on the bus.
— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) April 5, 2018
Time to @ufc start promete good people, fighters that can be a example for kids and new generation and also that can be good for the image of the show.
— Rafael dos Anjos (@RdosAnjosMMA) April 5, 2018
Just wait till I show up to NYC in the morning. I WISH a mfer would throw some shit my way @TheNotoriousMMA #UFC223
— Kevin MTP Lee (@MoTownPhenom) April 5, 2018
For someone talking about how much money he wants to fight again, showing up and trying to scrap for free seems like a poor business move. Especially if your license is revoked in the process... or is that a part of the plan?
— Dan Hardy (@danhardymma) April 5, 2018
Dana hit the nail on the head what kind of example is this to any kid, especially with a country that is now so invested in the sport. What a disgrace https://t.co/OVnnnsBDaA
— Joe Duffy (@Duffy_MMA) April 5, 2018
Lol of course he's on drugs!! McGregor so coked out of his mind he probably don't even know where he is right now https://t.co/0aYRlrKU3D

The fact this shitbag has any fans says more about the state of today's society than anything else. Lost 2 of 3, beat Chad Mendez when the guy came in as late sub. Lost 2 Diaz on last sub n barely won rematch and on top of it is just a punk with no manners https://t.co/hjeAX0ZDJu

After the Jon Jones hit and run incident, Conor/Nate can throwing debacle, Jones/DC media fight, Lombard and a few other late punches, and now the new Conor chaos, I can’t help but think..”what does Paul Daley think of all of this?”
— Anthony Smith (@lionheartsmith) April 5, 2018
I always wondered if I got rich and famous would I act a fool? I know when I was broke and desperate I would rob and commit crimes to get ahead. Where is the medium? Are we as humans this stupid? Or is money truly the root of all evil? #UFC223
— Jared Gordon (@JFlashGordonMMA) April 5, 2018
Conor McGregor’s act is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen displayed by an MMA fighter. Was a fan, no more. Shame on you!! #UFC223

2 ways to make a lot of money in the UFC:
— Patrick Cummins (@OfficialDurkin) April 5, 2018
A.) Be a scumbag (Connor McGregor)
B.) Sue a scumbag (Connor McGregor) for attacking you like a maniac
Disgusting. We need to rid the sport of fools like this. Back to being a plumbers apprentice you go!
— Ricardo Lamas (@RicardoLamasMMA) April 5, 2018
Looks like Conor is trying to get himself suspended. Guess that’s one way to avoid fighting Khabib!
— Chas Skelly (@ChasSkelly) April 5, 2018
What the heck is going down in New York with McGregor? Hope Chiesa and everyone involved are ok to fight. Totally unacceptable behavior.
— Sarah Kaufman (@mmasarah) April 5, 2018
Connor McGregor: arrest him, sue him, suspend him, ban him, fire him. Put him out of business.
— Kenda Perez (@KendaPerez) April 5, 2018
Let’s not support or aid to someone acting like a five year old with absolutely zero discipline and guidance.

Hope the NYPD charge/jail his arse and the fighters effected are compensated. #ufc223 https://t.co/TsmUMspDBd
This is what happens when you only promote people that spread negativity to sell fights. Want respectful behaviour? Promote respectful martial artists. #MICDrop #ufc223mediaday

There were a couple ppl unfortunately injured and sent to hospital because of some Irish thugs in New York! I hope all the amazing security staff at @Ufc and co workers are healthy and recover well. This type of behavior is disgraceful. My hats off to the staff! They are amazing!
