Khabib Nurmagomedov might not be getting his hands on Conor McGregor anytime soon, but he almost settled for a piece of one of his pals on Tuesday.

Courtesy of Sikjitsu head coach Rick Little (who can be heard narrating the action), footage has emerged of an altercation between the undefeated lightweight and McGregor’s close friend and SBG Ireland teammate Artem Lobov. The duo are in Brooklyn preparing for their respective bouts at UFC 223 on Saturday, and they had to be separated several times after confronting each other at the host hotel.

Video of the encounter was posted by MMAnytt:

It’s unclear what started the incident, though it could be related to comments Nurmagomedov has made about wanting to fight McGregor, most recently calling for the lightweight champion to step up in place of rival Tony Ferguson, who was forced to withdraw from a fight vs. Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 due to injury.

The altercation did not appear to get physical, which is fortunate for both Russian fighters as they will be in action on Saturday’s card. Nurmagomedov meets UFC featherweight titleholder Max Holloway, who is replacing Ferguson, in the lightweight championship main event, while Lobov battles Alex Caceres on the preliminary portion of the show.

Coach Little will be in the corner of lightweight Michael Chiesa as he takes on Anthony Pettis.
