There’s a new leader in the clubhouse for 2018’s Fight of the Year.
In a ridiculously wild, back-and-forth affair, Dustin Poirier defeated Justin Gaethje via fourth-round TKO in the main event of UFC on FOX 29 on Saturday night, winning an ungodly war of attrition to preserve his title hopes and send the former WSOF champion home with his second consecutive loss. Check out reaction to the madness below, plus the best of the rest from an action-packed night in Glendale, Ariz.

What a fight!! Dustin Poirier was getting behind on the momentum and he finds a home for a left hand that starts the beginning of the end for Gaethje. Two warriors!! 155 is stacked!! #UFCGlendale
— Aljamain Sterling (@FunkMaster_UFC) April 15, 2018

— Ian McCall (@Unclecreepymma) April 15, 2018
Solid performance by "the last @stylebender" you can't finish them all but you can look good in them all....! #UFCGlendale
— Damien Brown (@beatdown155) April 15, 2018
I had style bender winning the first 2 rds so I think that was a good decision
— James Vick (@JamesVickMMA) April 15, 2018
Split?! Dude! #UFCGlendale
— Mike Jackson, Esq. (@TheTruthJackson) April 15, 2018
Close fights by the strikes that I saw landing. Adesenya takes RD 1 and RD 2 seemed to go his way as well. Vettori takes the 3rd. #UFCGlendale
— Aljamain Sterling (@FunkMaster_UFC) April 15, 2018
Ground game some trash
— Derek Brunson (@DerekBrunson) April 15, 2018
Oh myyy @stylebender
— Bec Rawlings (@RowdyBec) April 15, 2018
Adesanya is amazing, as expected, when standing, with someone who'll stand in front of him and let him work his game. On the ground and takedowns? He needs work, also as expected. #ufcglendale
— The Spartan (@EliasTheodorou) April 15, 2018
Damn @stylebender is fun to watch fight.
— Andre Fili (@TouchyFili) April 15, 2018
That was a highlight real lean back off that kick by @stylebender! @ufc
— Alan Jouban (@AlanJouban) April 15, 2018
MICHELLE WATERSON DEF. CORTNEY CASEY
Awesome fight ladies
— Julianna Peña (@VenezuelanVixen) April 15, 2018
Great fight from @karatehottiemma and @CastIron_Casey
— michael (@bisping) April 15, 2018
Such a good and technical fight between both girls good job to both to both of you.
— Brian Ortega (@BrianTcity) April 15, 2018
Entertaining fight ladies! I enjoyed transitions and momentum changes. Round 1 and maybe 3 are tricky to score but I think Michelle did enough for the win. @karatehottiemma @CastIron_Casey @uf
— Alan Jouban (@AlanJouban) April 15, 2018
Casey won.... but you never know with judges
— Nik Lentz (@NikLentz) April 15, 2018
#UFCGlendale #ufc
@karatehottiemma I am so proud of you. I don’t give a shit how many times you win or lose, you always push yourself to take one more step forward. I love you so much.
— Julie Kedzie (@julesk_fighter) April 15, 2018
Great fight ladies and the right fighter won... #UFCGlendale #karatehottie
— Damien Brown (@beatdown155) April 15, 2018
@karatehottiemma great job!!
— James Vick (@JamesVickMMA) April 15, 2018
@karatehottiemma is slippery as hell Awesome escapes. #UFCGledale
— Kyle Bochniak UFC (@KyleBochniak) April 15, 2018
Watersons so goddamn short she doesn’t have to change levels, awesome to see her evolving and earning that tough win. #UFCGlendale
— Angela Hill (@AngieOverkill) April 15, 2018
If you get a takedown ... and spend your entire time on top defending sub attempts... that should count as losing #UFCGlendale
— Nik Lentz (@NikLentz) April 15, 2018
Split decisions are the exact reason that fighters should be paid flat rates instead of show/win. Often it’s controversial but the fighter pays a massive price.
— Damien Brown (@beatdown155) April 15, 2018
D”on’t leave it to the judges” is a ridiculous throw away line. It’s not the school yard sometimes it’s unavoidable.
