Tony Ferguson missed out on the chance to finally fight his lightweight nemesis Khabib Nurmagomedov, but that doesn’t mean he’ll miss an opportunity to take verbal shots at him.

Currently sidelined after a freak knee injury removed him from the main event of UFC 223, in which he was supposed to fight Nurmagomedov for the right to be called the undisputed champion at 155 pounds, Ferguson took to Twitter on Friday to express his disapproval of Nurmagomedov’s victory over last-minute replacement Al Iaquinta.

Because he was unable to compete, Ferguson was stripped of the interim title he won by beating Kevin Lee last October and he’s clearly not happy with the suggestion that Nurmagomedov is now the man to beat in their division, despite winning a title of his own at UFC 223.

In the tweet, Ferguson writes that Nurmagomedov’s fans “have no manners” and that the Russian was “lucky” he couldn’t make it to the Octagon.

“Since you like to talk in the cage, I would have made you verbally tap and left you crying for papi in the third,” Ferguson added, referring to Nurmagomedov’s father and coach Abdulmanap. “What a ‘PaperChump’, eat it casuals.”

Ferguson then signed off as “Thee Champ”, so it’s safe to say that he couldn’t care less about the UFC’s ruling on his championship status.
