Ricardo Lamas will be fighting in his home state for his next UFC bout.
The former title challenger will be taking on prospect Mirsad Bektic in a 145-pound match-up at UFC 225. The event will go down on June 9 at the United Center in Chicago, Ill. The news was first reported by Combate and later announced by the promotion.
Lamas, 35, is coming off a knockout loss to Team Alpha Male’s Josh Emmett last December. Prior to that, the featherweight fighter was on a two-fight win streak. Lamas is 18–6 in his overall professional career, and 9-4 since joining the UFC in 2011.
Meanwhile, Bektic last fought in January where he scored an impressive technical knockout victory over Brazil’s Godofredo Pepey. The win over Pepey earned him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Also, with that win, Bektic successfully bounced back from his first pro loss, courtesy of Darren Elkins who pulled off one of the biggest upsets of 2017.
