USADA suspends UFC’s Amanda Lemos two years for testing positive for steroid

Amanda Lemos is the latest fighter to be suspended by USADA for a UFC anti-doping policy violation.

USADA suspended the women’s bantamweight athlete two years for testing positive for the steroid stanozolol and its metabolite, stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected Nov. 8, 2017, the UFC’s anti-doping partner announced Wednesday. Lemos won’t be eligible to fight again in the UFC until November 2019.

Lemos (6-1-1) made her UFC debut at UFC Glasgow last July. The Brazilian fighter fell on that card to Leslie Smith via second-round TKO. Lemos, 30, was undefeated heading into that bout, a rising prospect coming from the Jungle Fight promotion in Brazil.

Lemos is one of four fighters to test positive for stanozolol since USADA began leading the UFC’s anti-doping program in 2015. Carlos Felipe, Viscardi Andrade and Guido Cannetti were the others. All of them hail from South America.
