Not so fast, UFC.

For the second time in a week, a bout that appeared on the promotion’s website has been called off just days after apparently being made official. Sources told MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani that a lingering injury will prevent Bryan Barberena from making a June 1 welterweight bout vs. Jake Ellenberger at UFC Utica that was announced this past Tuesday.

News of the withdrawal was first reported by MMA DNA.

Per Helwani, the Barberena vs. Ellenberger matchup was in discussion, but not finalized. This situation is similar to a recent fight announcement involving Gilbert Burns and Lando Vannata that was also reported on UFC.com only to be taken down shortly after.

Officials are looking to keep Ellenberger on the card for what would be his 20th Octagon appearance. The 44-fight veteran has lost two straight and seven of his last nine.
