Bellator’s newest addition has his first assignment.

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Jon Fitch signed an exclusive contract with the promotion earlier this week, and on Friday night’s Bellator 195 card, it was announced that Fitch would be facing welterweight standout Paul Daley when the organization heads to San Jose for Bellator 199 on May 12.

Fitch (30-7-1) is currently riding a four-fight winning streak that saw him win the WSOF welterweight title and defend it twice. He previously competed for the UFC, winning his first eight fights before coming up short against Georges St-Pierre in his lone title shot with the promotion.

Daley came over to Bellator in 2015 and has put together a 5-2 record in the promotion. Daley has been on the cusp of a title shot since his signing was announced but untimely losses to Rory MacDonald and Douglas Lima have derailed those aspirations. A win over Fitch could put Daley in a position to challenge MacDonald in a rematch.
