Thales Leites vs. Jack Hermansson official for UFC 224

A middleweight contest between Thales Leites and Jack Hermansson was officially announced for UFC’s upcoming pay-per-view event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on May 12. Combate first reported the news.

Leites (27-8) is looking to get back on track following a unanimous decision defeat to Brad Tavares at UFC 216. The Brazilian middleweight has bounced between wins and losses since 2016, going 2-4 over the past six bouts after a 5-0 run in the Octagon between 2013 and 2015.

Hermansson (16-4) has only lost twice since joining the UFC in 2016, with both of those defeats taking place in Brazil. Aside from the stoppage losses to Cezar Ferreira and Thiago Santos, “The Joker” scored a pair of first-round finishes against Brad Scott and Alex Nicholson and a decision victory against Scott Askham.

UFC 224 will take place at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Amanda Nunes vs. Raquel Pennington will compete for the bantamweight championship in the main event.
