Dana White’s “weapons room” has a new haul.
The UFC president dropped $69,000 on a number of Japanese samurai swords on a recent episode of “Pawn Stars.” Video of the episode dropped Tuesday on the History channel’s YouTube page.
One sword — a katana from the 1600s restored in Japan — cost him $30,000 flat. “Pawn Stars” host Rick Harrison didn’t want to sell the sword, which he had for years and sent away to get redone. That only motivated White.
“The fact that you didn’t want to sell it made me want it more,” White told him in the episode.
The workers at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas were able to bundle that gem in with a bunch of other swords. Harrison offered another worn samurai sword for $9,000 and White took it.
“I love the whole Japanese samurai tradition and the story and it’s a beautiful sword,” White said. “And I couldn’t refuse, so I took that one, too.”
White explained at the beginning of the video that he was looking to display the swords in a new room at his Las Vegas home.
“I’m building this weapons room in my house and what I’m really looking for today is a sword,” White said.
That $69,000 is really just chump change to the UFC front man. White made about $360 million in the UFC’s $4 billion sale to WME-IMG in 2016, per ESPN’s Darren Rovell. And that’s on top of his yearly salary, which is reportedly in the eight figures.
