Yushin Okami will continue his second UFC run far from the weight class in which he started.
The Japanese fighter has been booked to fight Dhiego Lima in a welterweight contest at UFC on FOX 29, which is set to go down on April 14 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz. The news was announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Okami, who was released from the promotion in 2013, returned to the UFC last September for a short-notice light heavyweight bout with ranked contender Ovince Saint Preux. Okami lost the main event fight with Saint Preux via first-round submission.
The 36-year-old Okami is 34–11 in his professional MMA career. Okami’s first UFC run stretched from 2006-13, where he put together a solid 13-5 record in the promotion and even challenged for the UFC middleweight title.
Lima finds himself in a similar situation to Okami. The 29 year old is looking for his first win in his second run in the promotion. Lima is coming off a submission loss to Jesse Taylor in the final of The Ultimate Fighter 25. The Brazilian fighter fought for the UFC in 2015-16, where he picked up a 1-3 record.
