The UFC’s first trip to Belem was a fruitful one for Valentina Shevchenko, Anthony Smith, and a pair of Brazilian fighters.
Shevchenko put on a one-sided beating on Priscila Cachoeira in the co-main event of UFC Belem on Saturday, capping off the win with a second-round rear-naked choke that earned her a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus, the second of her career.
The other Performance of the Night check went to Iuri Alcantara for his 66-second starching of Joe Soto on the preliminary portion of the card. A veteran of 17 UFC fights, Alcantara’s three bonus wins have come in his past five appearances.
Smith and Thiago Santos were rewarded with the Fight of the Night bonus for a violent main card opener that featured a back-and-forth first round. In the second period, Santos put Smith away with a kick to the body followed by ground and pound. “Marreta” earns his third UFC post-fight bonus, while Smith cashes in for a second time.
