Saturday night’s UFC Belem card is down to 11 fights after the co-main event bout between John Dodson and Pedro Munhoz was cancelled on Friday, and the event may take another hit later Saturday.
Michel Prazeres missed weight for his lightweight fight against Desmond Green, as he weighed in at 161 pounds and was fined 20 percent of his show money.
Green agreed to take the fight, but MMA Fighting has learned that Prazeres will have to weigh in again when he arrives at the Mangueirinho Arena prior to his fight, and he must weigh under 173 pounds. "Trator" told MMA Fighting on Saturday morning that he currently weighs 171 pounds.
If Prazeres is over the limit, Green will have the option to take the fight or not. The Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) will also evaluate Prazeres, even if he’s under 173 pounds, to check if he’s healthy and fit to compete.
This was the third time that Prazeres has missed weight in the UFC, so he will be forced to move up to welterweight for his next fight.
Friday’s weigh-ins also featured Eryk Anders, who faces local star Lyoto Machida in a five-round middleweight bout, missing weight by almost two pounds, but he was given an extra hour to try to make the middleweight limit. Anders eventually returned 50 minutes later and successfully weighed in at 186 pounds.
The current UFC Belem fight card can be seen below.
Update:
Green posted on Instagram that Prazeres came in at 180 pounds tonight, but he'll still take the fight. Prazeres shouldn't be over 173. Crazy. https://t.co/f9Xt26QH1q

(Editor’s note: Story updated after CABMMA wrongly informed MMA Fighting the agreement for the fight. The original story stated that Prazeres should arrive the arena at 161 pounds.)
