Jim Miller is coming home.
The 34-year-old lightweight veteran has been officially booked to fight in his native New Jersey opposite Dan Hooker at UFC Atlantic City on April 21 at Boardwalk Hall. It will be Miller’s 29th walk to the Octagon (including one no-contest), which ties him with Michael Bisping for the most appearances in UFC history.
A previously reported main event between lightweight contenders Edson Barboza and Kevin Lee was also announced on Wednesday.
Miller (28-11, 1 NC) is currently on a career-worst three-fight skid, having been outpointed in his last three outings against Francisco Trinaldo, Anthony Pettis, and Dustin Poirier. He has 16 UFC wins competing at 155 pounds, also a promotional record (tied with Gleison Tibau). His last victory came in November 2016, when he defeated Thiago Alves by unanimous decision in a catchweight bout (Alves came in heavy at 162.2 pounds) at UFC 205.
The UFC’s most recent trip to Atlantic City on July 16, 2014 saw Miller taking on Donald Cerrone in the main event at the then-Revel Casino Hotel (now Ocean Resort Casino).
New Zealand’s Hooker is trending in the opposite direction, having won two straight and three of his last four. Last December, the 28-year-old became the first fighter to finish Marc Diakiese, submitting the highly-touted prospect with a guillotine choke in the third round of their UFC 219 contest. Overall, Hooker holds a 15-7 professional record with five wins in eight UFC appearances.
