Molly McCann claimed the Cage Warriors flyweight title with a second-round TKO over Bryony Tyrell in the main event of Cage Warriors 90 Saturday night in Liverpool.
McCann was more comfortable than ever in front of her hometown crowd as she marched Tyrell down, tagging her with her lead left hand. Midway through the first round, “Meatball” laughed off the advances of her opponent and continued to land with ease.
After connecting with a big left hook in the second round, Tyrell looked to recover against the fence, but McCann chased her down and continued to throw shots until referee Marc Goddard stepped in to stop the action.
Speaking after the fight, McCann said she would like to defend the title in September in Liverpool.

Former Cage Warriors lightweight title challenger, Alexander Jacobsen, took just eight seconds to put Lawrence Fitzpatrick down in their co-main event meeting.
The former boxer planted the Team Kaobon fighter with an overhand right and sent him down before pouring on a barrage of grounded strikes that stopped the fight.
Speaking after the fight, Cage Warriors boss Graham Boylan suggested that Jacobson could be Pimblett’s next fight at 155 lbs.

UK heavyweight Shawn Kenny came out with all guns blazing for his heavyweight showdown with Ruben Wolf. After dropping Wolf with a right hand early on, Kenny ate a big shot of his own just before the bell sounded to end the first round.
The heavyweights continued to exchange in the second, but Wolf managed to catch a keylock from bottom when the action hit the ground. Kenny was swept from top position in an effort to escape the lock, but Wolf forced the submission shortly after.

Paddy Pimblett bounced back into the win column in dramatic fashion in his first outing as a lightweight, after losing his featherweight title to Nad Narimani in his last fight.
“The Baddy” wasted no time taking the fight to the ground with a single leg and quickly latched onto an inside heel hook that forced Alexis Savvidis’ full attention. The Greek prospect was back in defensive mode shortly after getting to safety as the hometown favorite attacked another heel hook. After another escape, Savvidis unsuccessfully tried to lock up an armbar in the last seconds of the round.
Pimblett jumped for a triangle after Savvidis forced his back up against the fence early in the second. As he tried to defend the choke, Pimblett stretched out his arm forcing him to tap out.
After the win, the Liverpool native called for a lightweight showdown with Soren Bak, with his teammate and Cage Warriors lightweight champion, Chris Fishgold, recently declaring his intention to move to featherweight.
