Former champion Marcos Galvao parts ways with Bellator

New, comments
Marcos Galvao won nine of 15 fights inside the Bellator cage.

Add Marcos Galvao to the list of fighters that are no longer in the Bellator roster.

A 135-pound tournament winner and former bantamweight titleholder, “Loro” became a free agent after Bellator chose not to re-sign him when his contract expired, Galvao confirmed Wednesday to MMA Fighting.

Galvao racked up a 9-6 record over the past seven years in Bellator, scoring wins over the likes of Joe Warren, L.C. Davis, and Luis Nogueira. Galvao captured the belt with an impressive second-round submission over Warren in 2015.

“Loro” moved up to featherweight after missing weight for his fight with Davis in 2016, then lost back-to-back decisions to Emmanuel Sanchez and Sam Sicilia in 2017.

The Brazilian veteran, who turns 37 in June, had competed under the WEC, Shooto, Ring of Combat, and Jungle Fight banners before joining Bellator in 2011. Galvao leaves the Paramount-owned company with a 18-9-1 record in MMA.
