Derrick Lewis’ big knockout victory last weekend came with a cost.
“The Black Beast” broke his hand in his third-round KO win over Marcin Tybura in the co-main event of UFC Austin last Saturday, he wrote Wednesday on Instagram. Lewis wrote that he has a fracture of the fourth metacarpal bone, which is the bone of the ring finger.
Along with the note, Lewis posted a video of a doctor sticking a needle in the injured hand.
“Damn that shit hurts,” Lewis wrote.
Lewis (19-5, 1 NC) has won seven of his last eight fights and the win over Tybura put him back in line for a top contender fight. The Houston native earned a $50,000 fight-night bonus for the third straight time at UFC Austin. Lewis, 33, has 10 wins in the UFC, compared to three losses, and nine of them have come by some form of knockout.
