The life of a professional fighter isn't all glitz and glamour.
As if getting punched, kicked, kneed, choked and twisted into a pretzel on a regular basis isn't enough, fighters attract a general wackiness that makes their lives, well...interesting.
To commemorate these day-to-day hardships, slip-ups, pranks, and more, we bring you, "The Weekly Grind."
This was just moments after I tore my ACL in a fight in Boston Massachusetts. It was when I faced off against the current featherweight champion Max Holloway, who I dismantled before and after this ligament tear, to win a lopsided victory. It was father against son in there that night in just my second UFC bout. Young Max is a hell of a fighter, I wonder what the future holds for my young Uce. Ligaments are needed in a fight definitely. Some can fight on however, where as some can not. I always think there are moments in your career that can make you or break you. I have had many in my storied career and this was most certainly one of them. God bless. Boston Strong
This was just moments after I dabbed in the octagon with my son after a fight in Detroit Michigan. It was when I faced off against the former featherweight champ and legend Jose Aldo who I stopped for the second time. It was a great legend against me in there that night in just my first title defense. Aldo is a hell of a fighter, I wonder what the future holds for my Brazilian brother. Getting paid is needed in a fight definitely. Some can find the motivation to defend no matter what however where as some can not. I always think there is a moment in your career that make you a true champion. It's when you find the motivation to keep earning what you already have, to defend. I have had one in my blessed career and this was most certainly the first of many #blessedera
Let me talk to my haters. Blame my greatness on things you simply will never understand. Hard work. Passion. Suck one— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) February 16, 2018

B)Dumbell press 10x each arm. C)KB flip and squat 20x. C) KB windmill 12 each side. Run through each set 4 times. oh.... and have a great Tuesday ;)
It is not befitting of a world champion to whine so much. A champion is someone that represents courage and strength. An ability to endure difficult circumstances and push on. How is it not obvious that this characteristic negatively affects marketability?— Dan Hardy (@danhardymma) February 13, 2018
I pray this comment isn’t for me. Because it’s so bizarre when non champions say what a champion should represent. Especially with little to zero knowledge of circumstance. But I know it’s not about me, being the respect we have for one another...... https://t.co/F56jwF2ZFV— Tyron T-Wood Woodley (@TWooodley) February 13, 2018
Go back and read some of the comments from your own fans, replying to your tweet! I respect you as an athlete and a champion, but many UFC fans aren't Woodley fans, and as a champion it's worth listening to them and figuring out why. https://t.co/iqFYIcszC7— Dan Hardy (@danhardymma) February 14, 2018
Go back and check my resume, and what I’ve done in a short period of time. See how I captured this title. I respect you, and As a fan it’s worth going back and reading. https://t.co/2gz58Nn4AF— Tyron T-Wood Woodley (@TWooodley) February 14, 2018
Yes, it's very impressive, and you are absolutely deserving of that belt. The issue now is that you don't feel like you are being promoted properly, but if people don't want to watch you fight, why would they spend the to promote you? https://t.co/sfOyLJqrTJ— Dan Hardy (@danhardymma) February 14, 2018
@lukerockhold , your teammate is holding MY Division hostage, and you think there are only easy fights at LHW. If u think Romero hits hard, then wait till you come to the big boys. I want @dc_mma , and knocking u out will keep me warm in the meantime. Beware of coming up in weight because I will be standing at the front door waiting.
Nice timing Alexander(kick him while he’s down huh). I got a better idea tho he doesn’t fight you next. He fights Robert Whitaker, I mean sometimes that happens right. You lose your way into a title shot! #thegustafsonway— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) February 15, 2018
I’m over 20 years being relevant in this sport. I broke a lot barriers and paved the way for a generation after me. I am one of the pioneers of the sport and I’m proud it it. I could not walk into the octagon for the last time without sending a relevant message to the: athletes, fans and to the sport itself. That is the reason why I chose to fight a friend of mine. An athlete that I have a lot respect. A good person a family man. I’m against the so famous “trash talk”. MMA is a sport! A sport that myself and a lot of family men work really hard to support our families. Lyoto and I have known each other for many years, I know his family and we have trained together. I wanted this fight to take place in Brazil because that is where everything started and now it’s time for us to send another message to the world. And the message is: RESPECT! May 12th @lyotomachidafw and I will step into the octagon as professionals and we still be friends. Always respecting each other and the way we will do that is giving our best in the octagon. I want people to understand that you don’t have to be a bully to be a fighter, you have to be a real man. And that is exactly what the world is in need, real man willing to pay the price to make a difference.
I don’t usually talk shit but some people just need to hear little something. Yes we were supposed to fight 2 times before but the first time I broke my nose in 5 places 10 days before the fight and had to get surgery as you can see, the second time I got sick after weight ins, left the hotel in a ambulance and spent my 25 year old birthday in a hospital because I got food poisoning right before the fight. I don’t pull out of fights at least I’m in a really bad situation like happened this 2 times. After that I chased this girl for 4 years and she didn’t want nothing to do with me. Now we were going to fight in Brazil and she said she would fight me but not in Brazil, there’s always something but the fight is set up now and you can run but you can’t hide. I will see you in Chicago, dumbass.
Hoje toda energia positiva vai pra você meu Irmao, @jussierformiga !! Boa luta!! We came from humble begins and we went all the way up together. Today is just one more day. Kick some ass my broh @jussierformiga !! #teamcg #theantman #kimura #2005?
Chuck saying he's "ready" to fight me is like me saying I'm "ready" to drive that Tesla that Musk just landed on Mars— Chael Sonnen (@ChaelSonnen) February 13, 2018
He's the only one who thinks he's ready— Chael Sonnen (@ChaelSonnen) February 13, 2018
That left kick always seems to be on point.. You r the Olympic wrestler here, not me and still I took u down @dc_mma Last time I checked your the one that got dropped. Yeah luke might loose hes way into a title, it can happen, like you lost your way back to your belt.......? Christmas came early for you last year! #championsdefendbelts #dcgotabeltforchristmaspresent #comingforthatbelt
For those of you who have been asking when my next fight is... well, I'm not sure when the next will be but it will not be with the UFC but rather with the @profightleague in the Million Dollar tournament. I've been doing this for a while now and I understand the business side of it. I didn't do the job that was expected of me and like all jobs I was released, rightfully so. Unfortunately, I under performed with the UFC and didn't achieve the goal I wanted to with that opportunity. I regret nothing, I took a chance at something I wanted and came up short. The fighter/competitor in me is highly disappointed with myself for allowing things to get away from me. The UFC chapter is closed for now... I'd like to thank the UFC staff for treating me so well during my employment. From day one I was treated well and with respect. I appreciate that greatly. Now with that being said, I am moving forward toward the next chapter. I'm extremely excited and fired up to be part of the @profighteague and their rebirth. The timing is perfect because I'm in my own rebirth process as well. As always I'm going to represent this organization as professionally as I possibly can. I look forward to being a pivotal part of the PFL's growth in this sport. All praise and glory to God. 1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. - Psalms 121:1-2 At my highest and my lowest, He's been with me and seen me through to lands of milk and honey. Thank you God for blessing me with this incredible opportunity for my family and myself. Now let's go secure this bag!!!! #Godisgood #hardwork #dedication #mma #ufc #PFL #professional #athlete #Godsplan #winningatlife #blackexcellence
