Roberto Soldic is set to make the first defense of his KSW welterweight title when he takes on two-division EFC champion, Dricus Du Plessis, at KSW 43.
KSW announced the welterweight title fight on Monday morning via press release.
Soldic (13-2) captured the welterweight title when he forced former champion Borys Mankowski to retire following the third round of their clash at KSW 41, which marked his first fight with the promotion. The 23-year-old Croatian put the European scene on notice just before his KSW debut when he scored a brutal first round knockout over Welsh standout, Lewis Long, at Cage Warriors 87.
Following his win over Mankowski, Soldic was involved in a confrontation with the South African, who was in attendance at KSW 41.
Du Plessis (11-1) has moved between middleweight and welterweight with South African promotion, EFC. He captured the welterweight crown with a third round submission of Martin Van Staden in 2016. He added the middleweight title to his list of honors in his last outing with a first round submission win over Yannick Bahati in August as EFC 62.
The promotion also announced that Polish Olympian Damian Janikowski is set to compete on the night. Michal Andryzak will also get a shot at the vacant heavyweight title at the event after banking two stoppage victories last year. Both Janikowski and Andryzak’s opponents will be announced in the coming days.
KSW 43 takes place on Apr. 11 at the Hala Stulecia venue in Wroclaw, Poland.
