Former Invicta FC strawweight champion Livinha Souza will have to wait a little longer before her UFC debut.
Souza was scheduled to step inside the Octagon for the first time at next week’s UFC Fight Night card in Austin, Texas, against Jessica Aguilar, but was forced out of the bout due to a hand injury. MMA Brasil first reported the news.
Souza’s team told MMA Fighting on Saturday that Souza hasn’t fractured her hand, but the exact injury will be known after they run more tests next week.
Aguilar (19-6) was looking to get back on track after losing her first two UFC bouts to Claudia Gadelha and Cortney Casey. Aguilar won 10 in a row before joining the UFC last year. It’s unclear if “Jag” will get a new opponent for UFC Austin on Feb. 18.
UFC Austin will take place at the Frank Erwin Center arena and feature a welterweight showdown between Donald Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros in the main event.
