Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

An MMA legend will make his Bellator debut on Feb. 16.

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will meet slugger Roy Nelson at Bellator 217 on Feb. 16 in Uncasville, Conn. MMA Fighting confirmed a Thursday report by ESPN.

Filipovic (37-11-2, 1 NC), makes his Bellator debut with a legacy that includes a 2006 PRIDE Open Weight Grand Prix championship and a memorable, up-and-down run in the UFC. His most recent fight was a first-round TKO of Roque Martinez in RIZIN on Sept. 30.

Nelson (23-16) is looking to right the ship coming off a pair of losses, most recently a knockout defeat at the hands of Sergei Kharitonov on Oct. 12. He’s 1-2 in Bellator.

This bout was originally scheduled for Bellator 200. However, Filipovic withdrew due to an injury.

Bellator 217 at Mohegan Sun Arena will be headlined by the welterweight grand prix quarterfinal bout between Paul Daley and Michael “Venom” Page.
