UFC 232 live blog: Ilir Latifi vs. Corey Anderson

This is the UFC 232 live blog for Ilir Latifi vs. Corey Anderson, a light heavyweight bout at Saturday’s UFC event at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif.

Latifi, winner of two straight and five of his last six, faces Anderson, who is also on a two-fight win streak, on the main card.

Round 1: Marc Goddard overseeing this fight. Anderson showing good lateral movement as he looks for an opening. Neither man landing anything in the first minute. Stiff outside leg kick by Latifi gets a reaction from Anderson. He lands another, but Anderson lands one of his own to the thigh. Latifi grabs Anderson’s leg off of a jumping knee attempt and he works on a single leg. Latifi lifts Anderson, but can’t complete the takedown. Anderson lunges in and gets thrown down by Anderson who quickly recovers, though the action is briefly halted so he can put his mouthpiece back in. Anderson lands a pair of body kicks. Latifi with a counter-punch as Anderson shoots in, then he blocks the takedown attempt. 1-2 lands clean on Anderson’s jaw as they separate. Latifi blocks a high kick, but takes a glancing right hand. Left hook lands for Latifi. Right hand over the top by Anderson. Latifi with the calf kick. Anderson ducks a right hand and answers with punches of his own. They clinch up and Latifi tries to land a wild uppercut before the buzzer.

Round 2: Anderson coming out with kicks to the body and he’s scoring. He pumps the jab to keep Latifi at a distance. Lunging right lands for Anderson, then a left hook as he backs up. Calf kick is money for Latifi. Latifi now with a pair of accurate right hands. Latifi stuffs a takedown attempt and spins Anderson around to the fence to go for one of his own. Anderson keeping a wide base. Latifi fighting for a body lock, but Anderson isn’t having it. He knees Latifi’s body on the break. Now it’s Latifi stuffing a double leg attempt. Right hand to the body by Anderson. He hits Latifi with a pair of short uppercuts. Latifi laboring, he’s short on a right hand and Anderson backs him up with a right of his own. Big burst of offense by Latifi, he’s throwing haymakers, but Anderson avoids the worst of it. Anderson goes to the body to launch a five-punch combo. Anderson’s jab is on point. They’re clinching up and Latifi gets a left punch to land on the break. Anderson isn’t backing up and he responds with a 1-2 of his own. Left hook by Anderson as the round comes to an end.

Round 3: Anderson immediately pressing forward to begin the final round. He lands another kick to the body. Latifi throws a looping right hand that appears to glance the side of Anderson’s head and temporarily wobble him, but Latifi doesn’t go for it and Anderson steadies himself. Latifi again doing damage off the break, landing a hard 1-2 combo up top. Counter left hand by Latifi. Half a round to go and neither fighter has really pulled away. Anderson having success with his jab, but he’s not throwing it much. Knee to the body and then a right hand scores for Anderson. Jab by Anderson and a straight right. Spinning high kick by Latifi, but Anderson seems to turn away enough to avoid the brunt of it. 1-2 for Anderson. Anderson keeping Latifi away with the jab. They trade hard punches at the close, then embrace. Close fight.
