Three of the top four fighters at UFC 232 will be cashing half-a-million dollar paychecks.
Light heavyweight contenders Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson are slated to earn $500,000 purses for their title rematch, which headlines UFC 232 on Dec. 29 at The Forum in Los Angeles, Calif. Women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is also set to earn a $500,000 purse for her co-headlining title defense against Amanda Nunes.
Nunes, the UFC women’s bantamweight champion, is the lone title competitor set to earn less than $500,000. Her expected base purse is $350,000 for her champion vs. champion title challenge against Cyborg, which sees Nunes attempt to become the first two-division beltholder in UFC history.
The California State Athletic Commission confirmed the salaries for UFC 232’s top four fighters to MMA Fighting on Friday.
UFC 232 was initially slated to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, however the event was moved from Nevada to California on less than a week’s notice after the Nevada Athletic Commission refused to license Jones without first having a hearing on his case in the wake of USADA discovering multiple adverse findings in the controversial former light heavyweight champion’s drug tests dating all the way back to August.
