Combate Americas has rounded out the field for its upcoming Cope Combate one-night tournament in December.
On Thursday, the promotion announced the final four featherweights, all of whom represent a different country, will enter “La Jaula” to compete for the $100,000 grand prize:
Bruno Cannetti (7-5) of Buenos Aires, Argentina
Pablo Villaseca (13-4) of Santiago, Chile
John Bedoya (6-0) of Bogota, Colombia
Marlon Gonzales (13-3-2, 1 NC) of Lima, Peru
Cannetti, 29, is currently riding a three-fight winning streak. Villaseca, 31, has earned 10 of his 13 professional victories via (T)KO or submission. Bedoya, 27, a veteran from the season three of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin Americas, has scored three of his six professional victories by way of submission.
Gonzales, 26, is currently the No. 1-ranked featherweight fighter in Peru. In his most recent outing, “Deriko Siete” scored a violent first round TKO over Mariano Rocca in August.
The four pugilists will join the previously announced entrants Andres Quintana (15-2) of Roswell, N.M., Alejandro Flores (13-1) of Monterrey, Mexico, Gaston Reyno (8-2, 2 NC) of Montevideo, Uruguay, and Zebenzui “El Niño Roca” Ruiz (7-2) of Las Palmas, Spain.
The tournament brackets , along with quarterfinal stage matchups, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
In addition, the winner is expected to earn what has been described as “The Largest Trophy in Sports.”
