Say what you want about Artem Lobov’s results inside the cage, but outside of it he delivers.
Following up on a promise he made prior to his most recent fight at UFC Moncton on Oct. 27, Lobov has paid Michael Johnson for the fine that Johnson received after missing weight for their co-main event bout in New Brunswick.
Johnson came in one pound over the featherweight limit and was ordered to give 20 percent of his purse to Lobov. However, because he accepted the fight on less than two weeks’ notice as a replacement for Zubaira Tukhugov, Lobov vowed that he would return the fine to his opponent.
On Thursday, Johnson confirmed on social media that Lobov kept his word:
In my book respect is always earned, never given. Hats off to @rushammer for not only a tough fight our last outing, but also being a man of your word. Respect was earned, hands down. #victory #teammenace #securethebag #bagsecured #menacecity #ufc pic.twitter.com/ifEIBinr95— Michael Johnson (@FollowTheMenace) November 8, 2018
“In my book respect is always earned, never given,” Johnson wrote. “Hats off to (Lobov) for not only a tough fight our last outing, but also being a man of your word. Respect was earned, hands down.”
Later, Lobov, who lost to Johnson by unanimous decision, responded in kind:
