Round 1: Strong start right out of the gate for the main card, as perhaps the UFC’s greatest new intrigue Israel Adesanya looks to capitalize on his big spot. Brunson is a headhunter, so things could go south quick. The referee for this one is Herbert Dean. No touch of gloves. Adesanya to the center, and he starts with a leg kick. Now they tied up, and Brunson bullies him to the fence. Adesanya looking to fish out his wrists, but Brunson posting his frame in there on the blade. Now there’s a break in action, and Adesanya flips Brunson off as Dean issues a warning. Back to it. Oblique kick from Brunson, and now Adesanya on the offensive. Leg kicks, and that long strafing jab. Brunson goes low and now he’s tryin to work Adesanya on the fence. Big shots there on fence from Brunson, but nothing landed clean. Body kick from Adesanya, who is picking his shots but cautiously. Brunson goes low and then waves a left hand at Adesanya, misses, and Adesanya with a high kick that Brunson lets know didn’t hurt him. Body lock on fence for Brunson, and they roll along the links. Crowd trying to rile the action. Wow now Adesanya piecing Brunson up! Knee to the face! Beautiful shots, all landing, and he’s wobbled. He’s so poised as he goes in for the kill. Brunson retaliates with a shot, but Adesanya coolly lands another jab, and down he goes. Dean stops it after another shot. Adesanya is for real!
