Renato Moicano will no longer fight Mirsad Bektic at UFC 231 as the Bosnian featherweight has been forced out of the Dec. 8 card, sources confirmed to MMA Fighting following a report by FloCombat.
Moicano remains on the UFC 231 card for now, but the promotion hasn’t found a new opponent for him just yet. The pay-per-view event takes place at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, and is headlined by a featherweight title bout between Max Holloway and Brian Ortega.
Moicano (13-1-1) wanted to be on the card so he could volunteer to replace either one of the headliners in case of an injury or weight miss. The Brazilian talent, who is coming off an impressive first-round submission win over Cub Swanson, has only lost one of his 15 professional fights, a late submission to Ortega in 2017.
Bektic (13-1) returned to the winning column after his sole career loss to Darren Elkins with back-to-back victories over Ricardo Lamas and Godofredo Pepey, but won’t be able to go for his third win in 2018.
