It took Maycee Barber a round to really get warmed up on Saturday night.
But once she got her motor running, there was no stopping the Colorado native in her UFC debut.
“I feel awesome I came here do to what I need to do. I”m here to finish every fight, I’m here to win,” Barber (6-0) said. “If you want to see a champion then follow my career.”
The much-hyped, undefeated strawweight took on a game opponent in Hannah Cifers on the UFC Denver main card and pulled away with violent efficiency in the second round, winning the bout via TKO at 2:01.

In the opening round, Cifers proved tough and resilient as she took Barber’s best shots but also landed with power. That caused Barber to look for the takedown, although late in the round she foreshadowed the second by landing some nasty standing elbows.
In that second round, the 20-year old Barber let fly with her offense, opening a huge gash on Cifers’ face with standing elbows and then continuing the onslaught on the ground until referee Kevin MacDonald waved things off.
“It’s kind of what I do,” Barber said after her fifth career stoppage win. “I throw a lot of elbows.”
Cifers, who took the bout on short notice, fell to 8-3 on her career.
