If the opening betting lines are any indication, oddsmakers expect a rematch between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor to take place in 2019 — and Nurmagomedov will be the heavy favorite.

Nurmagomedov soundly defeated McGregor via fourth-round submission to retain his UFC lightweight title with a dominant performance at UFC 229. After a heated lead-up to the event, a wild post-fight melee broke out immediately following Nurmagomedov’s win, as the undefeated Dagestani scaled the cage and leapt into McGregor’s corner. Chaos ensued, and afterward McGregor tweeted that he was “looking forward to the rematch.”

Oddsmakers seem to be taking McGregor at his word.

Opening betting lines from Irish sportsbook BoyleSports have the possibility of a Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor rematch taking place in 2019 listed as a healthy -175 favorite. Not surprisingly, the undefeated Dagestani (-250) is also a heavy favorite to defeat McGregor (+200) once again if the potential rematch goes forward.

Despite the chaos that followed it, UFC 229 is expected to go down as one of the highest-selling and most lucrative events in mixed martial arts history.
