Whatever trouble Khabib Nurmagomedov might have to deal with in the United States, that didn’t matter one bit to his fans in his home in the Republic of Dagestan.

After successfully defending his UFC lightweight championship in the main event of UFC 229 against hated rival Conor McGregor this past Saturday, Nurmagomedov returned to the Russian republic and it looked like the entire city of Kaspiysk was made aware of his arrival, judging by videos posted by Denis Geyko of RT International.

Fans gathered outside of the Anzhi Arena to welcome Nurmagomedov before filing into the 26,000+ seat football stadium in Kaspiysk, Dagestan.

Nurmagomedov could be seen addressing the crowd, title in tow, before his supporters decided to make a mad rush onto the field.

Unlike the chaotic close of UFC 229 that saw Nurmagomedov leap over the Octagon fence to attack McGregor’s cornermen, this was the kind of scene that can only be viewed as a triumph for “The Eagle” and his team.

On Sunday, Geyko also shared videos from the city of Makhachkala, where Nurmagomedov fans were leaning out of the cars and honking their horns to celebrate his victory.
