The rumors are flying that Ben Askren is about to become a part of the UFC, via an unprecedented contract swap that will see Demetrious Johnson end up in ONE Championship.
And if the deal gets made, the undefeated former Bellator and ONE welterweight kingpin is likely to have a line of fighters ready to take a swing at him.
“Funky Ben” has had quite a bit of fun over Twitter in the day since the news of the rumored swap surfaced. But other fighters haven’t exactly enjoyed being on the receiving end of his barbs.
Now you’re all in big big trouble!

A presumed shot at UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was up first.
Anyone know another Russian that needs humbled the old country way? pic.twitter.com/tEdSoUSX45

Then he set his sights on the welterweight division.
Notice not one of these WW's is saying my name right now. They think if they hide their heads in the sand some other poor lamb will be taken for slaughter.

Mike Perry took the bait.
Well I appreciate you being the only one with the courage Mike, but let’s be real: you suck, you know you aren’t getting the shot. https://t.co/xMAV4jpZmg

So many fighters said stuff about me in the past. I don’t even get hit. I might tell @ufc to set up a bum of the month club and fight every month!
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 25, 2018
Jorge Masvidal also had something to say.
@GamebredFighter you used to say a lot of shit. Now reality gonna bite you in the ass and your twitter fingers got fired.
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 25, 2018
Jorge you haven’t won a fight since Jan 2017! If you had a shred of self awareness you would realize it would be an honor for you to share the cage with me. https://t.co/oI5BCDS0RM
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 25, 2018
Askren also got under Darren Till’s skin.
Hey @darrentill2 you feel like going on a losing streak?
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 25, 2018
Ben all I do is chat absolute horse shit askren
— Darren Till (@darrentill2) October 25, 2018
Your twitter trash talk is embarrassingly bad, it’s worse than your performance against @TWooodley ! Now when you get asked to sign the contract for real make sure you do it son. https://t.co/xYPQxRhB3b
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 25, 2018
Who the fuck are you ? I’ve had one loss don’t be thinking your gonna come over here and ruin everyone, trust me I would knock the curly hair out your head you hillbilly. https://t.co/ba9IvXu92t
— Darren Till (@darrentill2) October 25, 2018
Sounds like a yes to me. Keep your dance card open you are about to get taken to Funky town. https://t.co/M50Epq8mHm
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 25, 2018
— Darren Till (@darrentill2) October 25, 2018
Colby Covington hasn’t taken the bait - yet.
@ColbyCovMMA might get beat up by @TWooodley first but I’m calling dibs on whipping him next. He is despicable
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 25, 2018
@ColbyCovMMA wouldn’t tweet me back bc I would expose his very subpar intellect!
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 25, 2018
Alan Jouban though is ready for the challenge.
Alan being humbled in front of millions isn’t something fake tough like happening to them. You’re 1-2 in your last 3, go back to modeling. https://t.co/eNwKBAZBC8
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 25, 2018
He also called out the Diaz brothers.
And @NateDiaz209 you can’t keep waiting on your sugar daddy @TheNotoriousMMA to make you some more money. If big bro lets you out of the house and your feeling funky holler at me
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 26, 2018
Hey @nickdiaz209 word is you blew all your money and need to fight again. I realize you haven’t won a bout since 2011, but people still seem to think you are good. I’m willing to show them otherwise!
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 26, 2018
And Georges St-Pierre.
Hey @GeorgesStPierre please name your terms of engagement!!! Who would you like me to beat up or how many twitter followers would you like me to have. You name it’s done. Then I’ll see you in Montreal.
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 26, 2018
But @GeorgesStPierre please be specific, ambiguity sucks. I know you like a challenge and I am a puzzle you have never solved yet.
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 26, 2018
Khabib too?
And @TeamKhabib I’ll meet you at 165 to determine the best MMA grappler on planet earth! You just name the time and send location.
— Ben Askren (@Benaskren) October 26, 2018
That’s where things stand for now, but given Askren’s ubiquitous social media presence, we doubt this is where things will end.
Ben Askren’s calls have finally been answered!!! Here is a video I wrote for him. Love this dude. @benaskren pic.twitter.com/3qvVUGrXS2
