Alistair Overeem vs. Sergei Pavlovich added to UFC Beijing

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

A heavyweight fight between former UFC title challenger Alistair Overeem and undefeated newcomer Sergei Pavlovich is heading to Beijing.

UFC officials confirmed the matchup after an initial report from Farah Hannoun.

Overeem (43-17, 1 NC), a former Strikeforce, K-1 and DREAM champion, is looking to get back into the win column after coming up short in his two previous trips to the Octagon. Most recently, fans saw “The Reem” violently finished late in the third round at the hands of Curtis Blaydes at UFC 225 in June. Prior to this, Overeem was knocked out by former title challenger Francis Ngannou at UFC 218 in December 2017.

To date, the Dutchman’s last win came in the form of a majority decision over former champion Fabricio Werdum at UFC 213 in July 2017.

Pavlovich (12-0), who relinquished his Fight Nights Global heavyweight belt after signing with the UFC, has not fought since his first-round TKO win over Kirill Sidelnikov in November 2017. To date, nine of the Russian’s 12 career wins have ended in (T)KO.

With the addition of this heavyweight contest, here is how the entire card stacks up:

Francis Ngannou vs. Curtis Blaydes

Alistair Overeem vs. Sergei Pavlovich

Wu Yanan vs. Lauren Mueller

Hu Yaozong vs. Rashad Coulter

Weili Zhang vs. Jessica Aguilar

Xiaonan Yan vs. Syuri Kondo

Song Yadong vs. `Frankie Saenz

Kenan Song vs. Alex Morono

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos vs. Li Jingliang

UFC Beijing will go down on Nov. 24 inside the Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China.
