This is The A-Side Live Chat on MMA Fighting.
Today on the show, we’ll talk the Nevada Athletic Commission hearing Wednesday, which dealt with suspensions for Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, as well as the potential release of Nurmagomedov’s UFC 229 fight purse. Did everything go as expected during the hearing? What’s next in this process?
We’ll also discuss the constantly changing UFC 230 card, which has a new co-main event in Chris Weidman vs. Ronaldo Souza. “Jacare” is stepping in for an injured Luke Rockhold. Is UFC 230 cursed? What does this change mean for Weidman and his middleweight title hopes? Is this a good development for Souza?
In addition, UFC Moncton is this coming Saturday night, featuring a light heavyweight main event between Volkan Oezdemir and Anthony Smith. What does a victory do for either men? Also on the card, Artem Lobov fights for the first time since he was confronted and slapped in Brooklyn by Nurmagomedov. How is Lobov expected to fair against Michael Johnson?
We will also speak about Ben Askren’s future. He tweeted this week there was a 98 percent chance he’ll be in the UFC in the future. Will he finally make it to the biggest promotion in the world? Who should he face if he gets there?
Also on tap, we’ll chat about the final card of the PFL playoffs last weekend, which featured big victories from the likes of Ray Cooper and Louis Taylor. Has this first season of PFL been successful? What should we look forward to for the finals on New Year’s Eve?
There is plenty to talk about, so join us to discuss all of the above and much more. All is up for discussion. The chat will start at our time of 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.
As always, we’ll post the video window as the event draws near and answer any questions you might have if you post them in the comments below. For the comments you deem the most deserving, please click the “rec” button. Comments in green will get first priority.
