Heavyweight grand prix semifinalist Chael Sonnen highlighted a list of eight fighters to receive extended medical suspensions in the aftermath of Bellator 208.
The New York State Athletic Commission released the event’s medical suspension report on Tuesday to MMA Fighting.
Sonnen suffered a first-round TKO loss to Russian legend Fedor Emelianenko in the main event of Bellator 208. As a result of damage sustained in the contest, Sonnen will be forced to sit out 30 days before returning to active competition, per NYSAC officials.
The seven other fighters who received similar extended medical suspensions were: Andy Main (60 days), Ryan Castro (45 days), Jessica Ruiz (45 days), Timothy Johnson (30 days), Christian Medina (30 days), Eric Olsen (30 days), and Anatoly Tokov (14 days).
Bellator 208 took place Oct. 13 at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. The night’s main card aired live on Paramount Network and DAZN.
