Nate Diaz, Dustin Poirier trade barbs in Twitter beef

Much to the disappointment of fans around the mixed martial arts world, the bout between Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier is off.

But that didn’t stop them from firing away at one another over Twitter on Friday.

Last week, Poirier had to pull out of the bout, scheduled for UFC 230 next month at New York’s Madison Square Garden, due to a hip injury.

But the pride of Stockton, Calif., doesn’t seem to believe his opponent is really hurt, and as such, he sent out a pair of tweets on Friday taunting his injured foe.

Poirier, though, wasted little time firing back at his would-be opponent, telling Diaz to meet him as soon as he’s cleared to fight.

Whether this leads to a rescheduling of the fight remains to be seen, but there’s little doubt the animosity between the two is real.
