Lara was last seen in action when she challenged champ Ilima-Lei Macfarlane for the women’s flyweight title at Bellator 201 in June. She lost the fight via third-round armbar. Lara trains out of Lobo Gym in Guadalajara, Mexico with the likes of Alexa Grasso and Irene Aldana. “Azul” is currently 7-2 as a professional fighter.
Meanwhile, Velasquez is an undefeated fighter with a record of 7-0. The Brazilian is 2-0 in Bellator with her last fight coming in April when she stopped Rebecca Ruth. Velasquez holds a win over UFC fighter Talita Bernardo. She trains out of Team Nogueira and has a black belt in judo.
Bellator 212 will be the first event Bellator holds in Hawaii. A rematch between Brent Primus and Michael Chandler for the lightweight title headlines the card.
