Two featherweights will put their lengthy winning streaks on the line at UFC 221.
On Thursday, it was officially announced that Alexander Volkanovski will fight Jeremy Kennedy at the UFC’s first international pay-per-view of the year, which is set to take place on Feb. 11 at the Perth Arena in Perth, Australia. Talks of the bout were first reported by Tom Taylor of BJPenn.com.
A native of New South Wales, Volkanovski has won 16 of 17 professional bouts. He is on a 13-fight win streak with victories in all three of his UFC appearances thus far. The 29-year-old defeated Shane Young by unanimous decision in Sydney this past November.
Young was a replacement for Kennedy, who was supposed to fight Volkanovski before being forced to withdraw due to injury.
Kennedy, 25, sports an undefeated record of 11-0. He hails from Surrey, British Columbia and is also undefeated in three UFC fights. His Octagon wins have come against Kyle Bochniak, Rony Jason, and Alessandro Ricci, all by way of unanimous decision.
UFC 221 will be headlined by UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker defending his title against former champion Luke Rockhold.
