When Bobby Green is on his game, he’s a hard man to catch.
Green was in fine form Saturday night in the featured prelim bout at UFC on FOX 27. The Fontana, Calif., native’s unique brand of awkward movement and slick strikes was on point, as he stymied Milwaukee’s Erik Koch in a lightweight matchup.
The judges’ scores in Charlotte were 29-28 across the board in favor of Green, who snapped a four-fight winless streak.
Koch had his best round in the first, as he found a home with overhand lefts, got Green to the mat, got his back, and worked him over.
But he never got into position to finish the fight, and Green took things over in the second. Green found his comfort zone as he darted in and out, and kept Koch guessing with a mix of body kicks and punches.
The damage really started accumulating in the final round, which finished with Green in top control raining down punches all the way until the final horn.
Green, improved to 24-8-1 with his seventh career decision victory.
“I just try to do what I can,” Green said. “There’s a reason they made me the main event on prelims, because I bring it any time. Fight of the Night.”
Koch (15-6) has dropped two straight and three of four.
