Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou full fight video highlights

Stipe Miocic defended his UFC title against Francis Ngannou at UFC 220 on Saturday night.

UFC 220: Miocic vs. Ngannou took place Jan. 20 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic (18-2) collided with power-punching challenger Francis Ngannou (11–2) in the night’s main event, which aired live on pay-per-view. Catch the video highlights below.

Round 1: Herb Dean on hand to officiate the heavyweight championship main event. Miocic scores first with an outside leg kick. Ngannou answers by going up high with a kick, Miocic digs in for a takedown and almost gets it. They end up with Miocic pressing Ngannou against the fence. They separate and Ngannou goes head hunting, Miocic counters with a single leg. Ngannou defends it and he’s stalking Miocic now. Winging shots by Ngannou, Miocic dodging his head out of the way. Uppercut connects for Ngannou, Miocic looks okay. More big shots from Ngannou that catch air, Miocic comes over the top with a right hand. Ngannou searching for that uppercut and Miocic clinches up with him. Work against the fence, Ngannou scores with a high knee. They separate again with half a round to go. Miocic ducks out of the way of a big Ngannou punch. Right hand by Miocic finds Ngannou’s chin. Jab by Ngannou. Counter right from Miocic. He times a double leg and finally gets Ngannou down, moving into side control. Short punches from top position by the champion. Ngannou flat on his back and he takes punches to the face, but he gets to his knees and powers back up to his feet. Miocic’s nose is bleeding. Miocic avoids Ngannou’s’ shots and clips him on the chin with a couple of punches, Ngannou gets in one of his own, Miocic takes him down again to close the round.

Round 2: Miocic again opening up with an inside leg kick. Both fighters noticeably slower. Inside leg kick by Miocic, Ngannou partially lands an overhand right. Teep by Miocic. Ngannou still looking for that uppercut. Miocic content to stay outside and score with inside leg kicks. Ngannou misses with some wild punches. Miocic decks him with an overhand right, but Ngannou absorbs it. Straight right scores for Miocic, then a straight left. He shoots in and takes Ngannou all the way across the cage before finishing the takedown. Ngannou pinned against the cage with Miocic putting all of his weight on his back. Miocic content to hang onto Ngannou and throw the occasional knee to the body. The challenger’s strength is just being drained. Short punches by Miocic.

Round 3: Less than 30 seconds in and Miocic shoots in for a single leg. Ngannou defends it, but he’s pressed against the fence. Trip attempt by Miocic, blocked. Ngannou looks like he attempted to push Miocic down, but Miocic easily reverses the situation and takes side-back control again. Ngannou stands up with Miocic leaning on him. Stipe with an elbow as they separate. Ngannou throws a slow jab and Miocic makes him pay with a straight right. Big right hand by Ngannou hurts Miocic, he shoots in and gets the fight back to the mat. Miocic on top in half guard. Ground-and-pound by Miocic, he’s landing short punches and elbows. Ngannou is stuck in this position and Miocic is content to keep scoring.

Round 4: Single leg by Miocic and he’s back in side control with plenty of time to work. Nothing major, but Miocic is landing plenty of punches from top control. Ngannou is on his hands and knees just turtling up as Miocic elbows him in the body. Punches to the side of Ngannou’s head now and he’s just trying to crawl out of the situation, which leads to him being pinned against the fence again. Knee to the body by Miocic. Zero output from Ngannou in this round. Miocic just pushing Ngannou down and he’s landing uppercuts from back position. Ngannou can only get a hand up to block the punches. Short elbows by Miocic. Miocic ends the round punching Ngannou’s body. The challenger extremely slow to get up.

Round 5: Ngannou looks like he’s ready to fall over at any moment. Takedown attempt by Miocic is blocked, but he’s got the clinch against the cage again. Miocic has the right underhook and he’s just leaning on Ngannou. Not much activity from either man. Miocic transitions back to the single leg and Ngannou tries to counter with a guillotine. It doesn’t look like he has anything left in his arms. Miocic breaks the grip and gets out. Back to clinching against the fence. Dean resets them in the center of the cage with half a round to go. Leg kick by Miocic. Ngannou misses with a left hook, Miocic hits him with a straight punch. Lunging jab by Miocic connects. Inside leg kicks by Miocic keep him ahead on the scorecards. Jumping knee from Ngannou, but Miocic just absorbs it with his body and pins Ngannou against the cage to close out what should be a record-breaking third consecutive heavyweight title defense.
