This is the UFC 220 live blog for Calvin Kattar vs. Shane Burgos, a featherweight bout at Saturday night’s UFC event at TD Garden in Boston.
Kattar, a 10-year veteran who upset Andre Fili in his Octagon debut last July, will face Burgos, an undefeated up-and-comer with a 3-0 UFC record, on the event’s main card.

Round 1: Both men probing with jabs as referee Dan Miragliotta oversees the action. Kattar catches Burgos coming in with a stiff shot to the body. Burgos lands a crisp jab and Kattar answers right back. Teep by Burgos. Kattar pops Burgos with a couple of jobs. Burgos dodges an uppercut but takes a straight right. Leg kick by Burgos. Burgos having more success with his jab now, he follows with a sharp body punch. Plenty of volume from both men, Kattar consistently scoring with punches as he backs up. Burgos connects with a three-punch combo. Body-head combination from Burgos. Jabs by Kattar, then a hook to the body. Head shots from Burgos are blocked. Front kick looks to land just beneath Burgos’s chin.

Round 2: Burgos happy to play the aggressor, but Kattar keeps making him pay with quick jabs. Inside leg kick by Burgos, then another as Kattar tries to counter-punch. Jab keeps popping Burgos’s head back. Right hook to the side of the head from Kattar. Good body punch by Burgos. Takedown attempt by Kattar, pushes Burgos against the cage and Kattar scores with an elbow as they separate. Kattar mixing up his punches, coming in from different angles to attack Burgos’s head and body. Tons of volume from both men, though Kattar seems to have the slight advantage in that department. Straight left-right combo from Burgos connects. Inside leg kick by Burgos. Body work shots from Burgos are paying off and he starts opening up as Kattar backs up against the cage. Burgos shoves him back and goes in with another combination. He sneaks in an inside leg kick. Jab still working for Kattar. Uppercut by Kattar. Counter-punch from Burgos, then another. He works inside to punish Kattar’s body some more. Very close round.

Round 3: Burgos opens up the final frame with an inside leg kick, then punches to the body when Kattar tries to close the distance, Kattar rocks Burgos with a straight right, Burgos stumbles forward right into an uppercut. He’s wobbling and another right puts him flat on his back. Ground-and-pound from Kattar and Miragliotta jumps in to save Burgos. Burgos looked like he might have been getting up, but he was taking a ton of damage.
