This is the UFC 220 live blog for Thomas Almeida vs. Rob Font, a bantamweight bout at Saturday night’s UFC event at TD Garden in Boston.
Almeida, ranked No. 10 in the UFC’s official 135-pound rankings, will face Font, who has won four of his six Octagon contests, on the event’s main card.

Round 1: Referee Herb Dean in the cage for the first fight of the main card. Font pawing with jabs to start. He shoots in for a single leg and backs Almeida up against the fence, but they separate. Font gets the better of a short exchange. His jab is landing. Leg kick by Font, but Almeida backs him off with punches and lands a leg kick of his own. Font putting on the pressure and they’re back against the cage. Font throwing with bad intentions, but Almeida’s defense is holding up. Head kick by Almeida clips Font. Font continues to find the jab. Lots of side-to-side movement by Almeida who lands another high kick. Leg kick by Almeida and he hops back before going back in with a 1-2 combo. Font with a high kick that is blocked, Almeida lands a leg kick. More solid jabs from Font. Almeida lands a good left hook as Font whiffs on an uppercut. The Brazilian’s movement is starting to make Font miss now. Over hand right by Almeida causes Font to stumble mid-kick.

Round 2: Font continues to jab, then comes over the top with a right hand that connects. Another straight right rocks Almeida and he rolls back before getting back to his feet, still dazed. Font gets a body lock and throws him down. Almeida gets back to the feet and eats another jab. Font gets in with an elbow and they pummel against the fence. Font starting to open up, 1-2 lands. He gets a body lock and takes Almeida down again. Wild knee by Font. Back in the center of the cage, Font dictating the pace. Almeida circling, he gets a leg kick. Font lands a huge head kick then follows up with a slew of uppercuts to put Almeida away.
